Assistant Buyer

Due to continued expansion, we're recruiting an experienced Assistant Buyer to join our well established client.
Job Duties:
- Assist in sourcing and evaluating potential suppliers.
- Support the procurement process from order creation to delivery.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, suppliers, and inventory.
- Monitor stock levels and coordinate timely reorders to prevent shortages.
- Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers to optimize costs without compromising quality.
- Collaborate with internal teams to understand purchasing requirements and ensure adequate supply.
- Process purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Assist in managing supplier relationships and resolving order or delivery issues.
- Track market trends to support informed purchasing decisions.
- Maintain the company’s Approved Supplier List
- Provide material cost estimates to support the Sales Department.
- Perform additional tasks as required, including assisting with Goods In, Dispatch, and Material Preparation for Production.
- Participate in the annual stock take.
Requirements:
- Experience in procurement or purchasing (preferred but not required).
- Experience in engineering (preferred but not required).
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with procurement software (e.g., Sage) is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask effectively.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Background in engineering is beneficial but not essential.
Working hours: Flexible working arrangements.
