CNC Machining Team Leader
- Location: Redditch.
- Salary: £39,837.42 - £42,000 per annum + Excellent Benefits.
- Working hours: Flexible.
- Full time, Permanent.
The Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced CNC Machining Team Leader to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business in Redditch. This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone with a strong CNC machining background who is passionate about driving quality, productivity and continuous improvement.
You will lead a team of skilled machinists, ensuring production targets are achieved while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety and efficiency. This role combines technical expertise with people management and offers the opportunity to make a real impact within a modern manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, motivate and support a team of CNC machinists on a day-to-day basis.
- Act as the first point of contact for machine shop issues relating to quality, productivity and machine performance.
- Drive Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Set, operate and programme a wide range of CNC machine tools.
- Edit, prove out and optimise CNC programmes to improve machining performance.
- Ensure components are manufactured accurately, efficiently and to specification.
- Carry out inspections using a range of precision measuring equipment.
- Monitor tooling, make offsets, replace worn tooling and maintain machine set-ups.
- Train and mentor new and existing team members, promoting best practice and safe working procedures.
- Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Work closely with production and engineering teams to improve manufacturing processes.
- Promote Lean manufacturing principles and identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Ensure all Health & Safety policies and procedures are followed at all times.
Requirements:
- Proven experience setting and operating CNC machine tools.
- Previous Team Leader, Supervisor or senior machinist experience.
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming, editing and machine set-up.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment.
- A strong understanding of quality standards and inspection procedures.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
