CNC Turner
£35,000 per annum (including shift allowance & paid breaks) and bonus!
Rotating shift pattern required (including night shifts where applicable).
This is a Full time, Permanent position.
Role Summary:
The CNC Turner Operator will play a key role within a high-volume precision engineering environment, supporting the efficient operation of CNC turning machinery to produce high-quality components in line with production schedules.
This role exists to ensure consistent machine output, maintain product quality standards, and support smooth workflow across the CNC section. The successful candidate will contribute directly to operational efficiency, quality performance, and continuous improvement activities within the manufacturing process.
Working on a rotating shift pattern, the role requires a proactive, hands-on approach to machine operation, quality assurance, and teamwork in a fast-paced production setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate CNC turning machines within a high-volume production environment, following job cards and work instructions on a rotating shift basis
- Support CNC machine setters with machine setup, operation, and changeovers where required
- Load and unload components safely and efficiently to maintain production flow
- Operate bench slitters and other associated production equipment as required
- Accurately count, weigh, and pack finished components in line with customer and internal specifications
- Carry out in-process quality inspections to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and tolerances
- Use CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) systems to conduct dimensional checks and generate quality reports
- Maintain adherence to health and safety standards, including correct and consistent use of PPE
- Ensure all work is completed in line with production schedules and quality requirements
- Support housekeeping standards, ensuring a clean, safe, and organised work environment
Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or engineering production environment (essential)
- Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings and manufacturing instructions
- Apprenticeship-trained in engineering or a relevant technical qualification (desirable)
- GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above (essential)
- Understanding of machining processes, measurement principles, and quality standards
- Experience using measuring equipment and inspection systems, including CMM (advantageous)
