About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Extrusion Lead Operator to support and guide a team of operators, ensuring the safe and efficient manufacture of high-quality extruded pipe. You will train new and existing team members, uphold safety and quality standards, and contribute to continuous improvement across the shift.
Key Responsibilities
- Train and mentor operators in best practices and quality standards.
- Conduct audits to ensure safety, quality, and compliance.
- Support the Team Leader with housekeeping standards and break coverage.
- Operate extrusion lines when necessary.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping and hygiene across the plant.
- Assist with risk assessments and process improvement initiatives.
- Ensure operator safety checks are completed and documented.
- Manage effective inter-shift communication and handovers.
- Coordinate shift tasks: schedules, deployment boards, paperwork, resin checks, and manpower control (overtime/holidays/absence).
- Review operational performance, agree actions, and issue end-of-shift reports.
- Handle scrap events via the NCMR process.
- Oversee banding gun audits and repairs.
- Support site security and respond to alarms.
- Act as first-aid support on shift.
- Raise maintenance work orders as required.
Requirements:
- Experience of working with an extrusion process.
- NVQ or equivalent qualifications an advantage.
- Strong HSE awareness (ideally IOSH trained).
- Manual Handling trained.
- Train the trainer trained.
Salary: £41,809.80 Per Annum including shift allowance.
Working Hours: 4 on 4 off Days and Nights.
This is a Full time, Permanent position.
