Gas Suppression Engineer
Location: Midlands – UK-wide travel
Salary: £34,000–£40,000 per annum + overtime (OTE up to £50,000)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
We are looking for an experienced Gas Suppression Engineer to join a growing specialist fire protection business. This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer with a strong mechanical/electrical background and experience working with FM200 and FE36/Novec 1230 systems.
You’ll be field-based, working across commercial and mission-critical environments throughout the UK, with excellent opportunities for overtime, training and career progression.
The Role:
- Install, service, maintain and commission fire suppression systems
- Work with FM200, FE36/Novec 1230, CO₂ and inert gas systems
- Carry out cylinder installations, pressure checks and system upgrades
- Complete room integrity testing and ensure systems meet relevant British Standards
- Diagnose and repair electrical and system faults
- Interface with fire detection systems, control panels and associated equipment
- Produce accurate service reports and technical documentation
- Work within data centres, communications rooms and other critical environments
- Attend emergency call-outs and occasional weekend work, with enhanced overtime rates
- Provide a professional and customer-focused service at all times
About You:
- Minimum 1 year’s experience working with fire suppression systems
- Specific experience with FM200 and FE36/Novec 1230 highly desirable
- Mechanical or electrical engineering background
- Good understanding of fire suppression systems and relevant standards
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Able to work independently and manage your own workload
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Willingness to travel and occasionally stay away overnight
Experience with CO₂, inert gas, watermist, aerosol or kitchen suppression systems would be advantageous.
