HGV Class 1 Driver
Salary: £34,840 per annum (£16.75 per hour)
Overtime: Time and a half after 40 hours per week
We are recruiting for an experienced HGV Class 1 Driver to join an established waste management business. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery and collection of waste, operating a range of vehicles as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely delivering and collecting waste.
- Ensuring waste is disposed of correctly in the designated areas according to waste type.
- Using a PDA to complete jobs and update records.
- Reporting issues promptly, keeping the office informed and taking photographs where necessary.
- Completing daily vehicle checks and reporting any defects to the onsite garage.
- Handling customer queries and completing relevant paperwork.
- Following company procedures, health and safety requirements and site rules.
- Driving other vehicles when trained and competent to cover holidays, sickness and operational requirements.
Requirements:
- Valid HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) driving licence.
- Valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card.
- No serious endorsements on driving licence (including DR, DG or IN).
- Good local geographical knowledge.
- Good customer service and communication skills.
- Previous experience driving goods vehicles preferred.
- Experience operating skip vehicles desirable.
- Willingness to drive other vehicles when trained and competent.
- Drivers under 25 may be considered, subject to insurance approval.
Working Hours & Benefits:
- Permanent, full-time position.
- Monday to Friday, 7am–5pm.
- Saturday mornings, 7am–12pm, on a rota.
- £16.75 per hour (£34,840 per annum).
- Overtime paid at time and a half after 40 hours per week.
