Salary: £30,000 - £42,000 per annum, plus bonus and benefits

Shifts: Days & Afters Monday to Friday
The Opportunity:
A leading UK provider of sustainable building solutions is looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join its high-performing maintenance team at a major manufacturing facility.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled mechanical fitter who enjoys hands-on engineering, problem-solving and working in a fast-paced industrial environment. You’ll play a key role in maintaining critical plant and machinery, responding to breakdowns and helping maximise equipment reliability and production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance across site machinery and equipment.
- Diagnose faults and respond promptly to mechanical breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
- Carry out mechanical repairs, maintenance and improvements to plant and equipment.
- Undertake welding, cutting and fabrication work as required.
- Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Support the wider site team to maintain safe, reliable and efficient operations.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed to a high standard and in line with company procedures.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete relevant documentation.
- Keep workshops and working areas clean, organised and compliant with Health & Safety requirements.
- Assist with training and knowledge-sharing across the maintenance team.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, maintenance processes and overall site performance.
About You:
You’ll be a practical, proactive and safety-focused engineer with strong mechanical maintenance experience. You’ll enjoy working with your hands, diagnosing problems and finding effective solutions in a busy manufacturing environment.
Ideally, you’ll have:
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience working as a Mechanical Fitter, Maintenance Fitter or similar industrial engineering role.
- Experience with welding, cutting and fabrication.
- Good knowledge of mechanical maintenance and fault-finding.
- Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems would be highly advantageous.
- Strong Health & Safety awareness and a commitment to working safely at all times.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- The ability to work effectively to planned maintenance schedules and deadlines.
- A methodical, reliable and detail-focused approach.
- A proactive attitude towards problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Flexibility to work rotational shifts.
