Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
Appley Bridge, Wigan | Permanent
Starting salary: £49,345.92 (including shift allowance)
Working hours: Three shift systems, Days, Nights & Afters, Monday through to Friday
We are recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a major manufacturing site in Appley Bridge, Wigan, producing reinforced bituminous roofing membranes and traditional roofing felts.
You will be responsible for keeping production equipment and machinery running safely and efficiently, carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance and minimising production downtime.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned preventative and reactive mechanical maintenance.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults across production machinery.
- Maintain equipment including conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
- Respond quickly to breakdowns and minimise production downtime.
- Support continuous improvement and machinery upgrades.
- Work safely and effectively within a busy manufacturing environment.
About You:
- Qualified/time-served Mechanical Engineer.
- Apprentice trained.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
- Proactive, reliable and safety-focused.
