Processing Plant Operative

- Shift Pattern: Monday–Friday, rotating Days, Afters & Nights, plus 1 in 4 Saturdays
- Starting salary: £16.08 per hour
We are currently recruiting for a Processing Plant Operative to join a well-established quarrying operation in Matlock.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a practical, reliable and safety-focused individual looking to build a long-term career within the quarrying and processing industry. Previous experience is advantageous, but full training will be provided for the right candidate.
The Role:
Working as part of the site operations team, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of processing plant and equipment, ensuring production runs smoothly while maintaining the highest standards of Health, Safety and Environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate processing plant and associated equipment safely and efficiently.
- Carry out regular plant inspections, checks and monitoring, reporting any defects or issues.
- Support the smooth and efficient running of the processing operation.
- Undertake internal vehicle movements and material movements across the site.
- Follow all SHE procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment.
- Assist with general operational duties as required.
- Work closely with colleagues to achieve production and operational targets.
- Identify and report any safety, plant or operational issues promptly.
About You:
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in processing plant or mobile plant operation – desirable but not essential.
- Safety-conscious with a good understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental practices.
- Practical and mechanically minded.
- A strong team player with a positive "can-do" attitude.
- Flexible and willing to undertake a variety of operational tasks.
- Reliable and comfortable working a rotating shift pattern.
- Willing to learn and undertake relevant training and development.
- A confident communicator with good numeracy and literacy skills.
- Competent with basic IT systems.
- In possession of a full UK driving licence.
