Production & Continuous Improvement Engineer
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum + Benefits
Hours: 40 hours per week | Monday–Thursday 07:30–16:30, Friday 07:30–13:30
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Production & Continuous Improvement Engineer to join a successful manufacturing environment and play a key role in improving production performance, efficiency and cost.
Working as part of the Production Engineering team, you will support a welding value stream incorporating manual and automated processes, driving continuous improvement projects and developing robust, cost-effective manufacturing methods.
The Role:
You will be responsible for analysing and improving production processes, identifying opportunities to reduce waste, improve productivity and optimise manufacturing costs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conduct Value Stream Mapping, time studies and capacity analysis to support accurate labour planning and product costing.
- Develop and maintain BOMs, process documentation, SOPs, Work Instructions and How-to Guides.
- Identify and implement Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement opportunities.
- Analyse production processes, resolve problems and implement practical engineering solutions.
- Support 5S, Visual Factory, Kanban and material flow improvements across the production environment.
- Carry out process audits to ensure standards are maintained and identify further improvement opportunities.
- Support Health & Safety and Environmental improvement initiatives.
- Lead and deliver small to medium-sized improvement projects from concept through to implementation and handover.
- Work closely with production teams to maximise efficiency, quality and value-added output.
About You:
We're looking for an experienced Production, Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement Engineer with a hands-on approach and a genuine passion for improving manufacturing processes.
You'll ideally have:
- Degree/HNC/HND in Engineering or equivalent manufacturing experience.
- Proven experience within a manufacturing/production engineering environment.
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement.
- Experience with manual and automated welding processes.
- Experience in project management and delivering improvement projects.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills.
- Experience with CAD packages, ideally AutoCAD and Creo.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with production teams and stakeholders.
- A proactive, results-driven approach with the ability to identify problems and implement effective solutions.
