Due to continued expansion, our client is looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Production Department Supervisor to join their established manufacturing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on production professional to step into a key leadership role within a successful and forward-thinking business.
The Role
As Production Department Supervisor, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the CNC trimming department, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and health & safety requirements are consistently achieved.
You’ll lead and support the trimming team, monitor machine performance, coordinate workloads, and play an active role in driving continuous improvement across the department.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Supervise and coordinate the CNC trimming team across production shifts
- Allocate workloads and ensure production targets are achieved efficiently
- Provide coaching, training, and hands-on support to team members
- Promote a positive and productive working environment
Production & Machine Oversight
- Ensure efficient operation of 5-axis CNC trimming machinery
- Monitor machine performance, tooling, and production output
- Troubleshoot operational issues and escalate where necessary
- Support machine setup, changeovers, and preventative maintenance activities
Quality Control
- Ensure all components meet required quality standards and specifications
- Support inspections and work closely with the QA team to resolve issues
- Promote right-first-time manufacturing practices
Health & Safety
- Ensure compliance with all health & safety procedures and PPE requirements
- Conduct routine safety checks and support risk assessments
- Promote a strong health & safety culture within the department
Continuous Improvement
- Drive lean manufacturing and 5S initiatives
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and minimise waste
- Encourage team involvement in process improvements and best practices
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience operating 5-axis CNC trimming machinery
- Previous supervisory or team coordination experience within manufacturing or production
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Experience using precision measuring equipment
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent leadership and communication abilities
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workloads under pressure
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach
- Commitment to health & safety and continuous improvement principles
Desirable:
- Experience working with plastics or composite trimming processes
