Due to continued expansion, we are recruiting an experienced R&D Manager to join our well established client.
Role Overview:
- As R&D Manager, you’ll spearhead innovation, designing, testing, and enhancing systems while ensuring full compliance with UK and EU safety standards. You'll translate customer needs into technical specifications, lead prototyping, and collaborate cross-functionally.
Responsibilities:
- R&D Strategy: Identify market needs and opportunities for improving systems.
- Standards & Compliance: Maintain full awareness and authority over regulations (BS 476, EN 1634, PAS 24) and third‑party certification protocols. Ensure test documentation is complete and auditable.
- Product Innovation: Develop new rates, finishes, hardware, configurations. Manage end‑to‑end prototype cycles—from technical drawing to testing.
- Technical Leadership: Author and review technical specs and CAD drawings. Provide guidance to production, QA, and installation teams.
- Project Management: Lead R&D projects from concept to launch, define scope, milestones, budgets. Ensure timelines and quality standards are met.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with customers, fabricators, installers, test houses, and certification bodies. Facilitate knowledge transfer and continuous improvement.
Requirements:
- Experience: Deep technical background.
- Compliance expertise: Proven experience with BS 476, EN 1634, PAS 24.
- Innovation mindset: Strong track record driving product improvements.
- GSD attitude: Self-starter capable of driving multiple projects, delivering results under tight timelines.
- Technical spec writing: Excellent ability to draft clear, comprehensive specs and detailed CAD/technical drawings.
- Cross‑functional leadership: Able to engage internally with production, quality, sales, and externally with customers, installers, and certifiers.
- Experience with third-party accredited testing and factory production controls.
- CAD proficiency (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and technical product development tools.
