Yard Supervisor
Location: Sheffield, S3
Salary: Up to £16.00 per hour + overtime & bonus
Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00am–5:00pm
Saturday: 7:00am–12:00 noon when required

The Opportunity:
We are looking for an experienced Site Yard Supervisor to join a busy waste management operation in Sheffield.
This is a hands-on supervisory role for someone with strong site awareness who can confidently coordinate HGV movements, plant operations, waste activities and site personnel, while maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency.
The ideal candidate will have previous supervisory experience, preferably within the waste, recycling, quarrying or heavy industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate HGVs, plant machinery and vehicle movements safely and efficiently.
- Supervise operations within tipping and unloading areas.
- Manage and supervise site operatives and plant operators.
- Monitor waste deliveries and carry out checks for waste non-compliance.
- Ensure waste is stored and managed efficiently within designated areas.
- Oversee the safe operation of static and mobile plant.
- Monitor site safety and work with management to minimise accidents.
- Ensure daily plant and machinery checks are completed and report defects.
- Ensure visitors comply with site rules, processes and PPE requirements.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
- Support the wider site team with additional duties as required.
About You:
- Previous experience in a supervisory role is essential.
- Experience within waste management, recycling or a similar industrial environment is highly desirable.
- Plant operating experience/qualifications would be advantageous.
- Confident managing people, vehicles and busy site operations.
- Strong understanding of health & safety and site traffic management.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Able to work under pressure and make decisions independently.
- Proactive, reliable and flexible in your approach.
Pay & Benefits:
- Up to £16.00 per hour, depending on experience and skillset.
- Overtime paid after 40 hours.
- Bonus opportunity.
- Monday–Friday, 7:00am–5:00pm.
- Saturday 7:00am–12:00 noon when required.
